I need to get a new flash for my D700,has anyone tried the new SB-910 with the D700?

I have a Nissin Flash and i use it with my D7000 and dont have any issues with it. Are nikon flashes more reliable than 3rd party flashes?

The SB-910 is essentially a "minor" upgrade of the SB-900. I have the SB-900 with the D700, so I have no reason to believe a SB-910 would be incompatible.

What I was asking if there was still a issue with hot shoe connection
  • StephenStephen February 18
From what I have been reading about the D700 hot shoe problem, the problem is on the D700 hot shoe itself. It was not designed to support the weight of the SB-900 (and SB-910). Over time with the flash mounted on the camera, the D700 hot shoe may loosen or bend a little, causing the contacts between the flash and SB-900 not to touch. If you have this problem, the hotshoe should be replaced, although it is unclear whether Nikon will acknowledge the problem. I sent my D700 to a different authorized repair shop, who replaced the hot shoe for me.

Therefore, simply upgrading to the SB-910 is probably not going to change the situation.

See this forum thread about the D700 hot shoe problem: http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikond700/discuss/72157626864603856/

Thanks for this, I wonder if the D800 will have the problem?
